Who Can Take the Claude Certification Exams? Partner Network Rules
Only people who work at a Claude Partner Network (CPN) member organization can take the Claude certification exams, and they have to register with an email address on their company's domain. Anthropic's certification FAQ puts it in one line: "Certification is currently available only to organizations in the Claude Partner Network." If your employer is not a member, the way in is for the company to join CPN. Membership is free, but the application is limited to registered service businesses with 10 or more employees.
The exams are open to employees of CPN member firms and nobody else. A consulting or services firm with 10 or more staff can join for free and then register its people. A freelancer or a product company cannot.

The Rule, in Anthropic's Words
The certification FAQ on Anthropic Partner Academy sets three conditions. First: "Certification is available to people at Claude Partner Network organizations." Second: "Registration requires a partner email address on a recognized company domain", and "personal email addresses will not work." Third: "You must be at least 18 years old to take a Claude Certification exam."
The same rule covers all four exams: Claude Certified Associate - Foundations, Claude Certified Developer - Foundations, Claude Certified Architect - Foundations and Claude Certified Architect - Professional. None of the four is open to the general public. Its July 2026 announcement of the four credentials says the same thing: "Exams are available to members of the Claude Partner Network."
Who Can Join the Claude Partner Network
Anthropic launched CPN on 12 March 2026. The announcement said "Any organization that is bringing Claude to market is eligible to join the Claude Partner Network" and "Membership is free of charge."
The application form is narrower than that headline. It asks applicants to "Be a registered business with 10 or more employees", to "Operate in a supported region" and to "Offer consulting, implementation, or managed services to customers." Companies building a product on Claude, rather than delivering services, are pointed to the Claude API instead. The form page does not list which regions are supported.
Joining also comes with a commitment. Anthropic's June 2026 Services Track announcement says "new applicants start at Registered, the program's entry level, with a minimum commitment to 10 certified practitioners."
How to Get Access, Step by Step
Start by checking whether your employer is already a member. Anthropic publishes a partner directory at partnerhub.anthropic.com/directory.
If your employer is a member, register on Anthropic Partner Academy with your work email. If the academy does not recognise your company's domain, the domain has to be linked to the partner account first. Anthropic's FAQ says: "Adding a domain requires a record change on our side and takes 7 to 10 days to take effect." Domain requests go to partner-support@anthropic.com. Build those 10 days into any exam date you have in mind.
If your employer is not a member and fits the criteria above, the company applies at claude.com/partners. Once the application is accepted and the domain is linked, staff register and book exams the same way as at any other member firm.
Who Cannot Take Them Yet
Under the current rules, these people have no path to a Claude certification exam: freelancers and solo consultants, staff at firms with fewer than 10 employees, employees of companies that build products on Claude but do not sell services, students, and anyone under 18. Registering with a personal Gmail or Outlook address fails even for someone who otherwise qualifies.
The FAQ says "currently", which leaves room for the rule to change. Anthropic has not announced a date or a plan for wider access. Treat any third-party claim that public registration is coming as unconfirmed until it appears on an Anthropic page.
What It Costs Once You Are In
List prices in the FAQ are USD 99 for Associate - Foundations, USD 125 each for Developer - Foundations and Architect - Foundations, and USD 175 for Architect - Professional. A retake costs the full exam fee, and you can sit an exam up to 4 times in a rolling 12 months. A certification is valid for 12 months from the date you earn it.
Discounts depend on your employer's partner tier: "Select, Preferred, and Global Premier partners receive 50% off, applied automatically at checkout. Through December 31, 2026, Global Premier partners receive a 100% discount on all certification exams." Registered, the entry tier, is not on that list, so staff at a newly joined firm pay list price.
The tier itself is built partly from certifications. Developer - Foundations, Architect - Foundations and Architect - Professional count toward a firm's tier. Associate - Foundations does not.
Preparing Before You Have Access
The partner check happens when you book the exam. Practice questions and study guides from third parties, including examworthy's Architect - Foundations and Developer - Foundations practice, need no partner account. That makes it reasonable to start preparing while your employer's application or domain link is still in progress.
The 12-month validity is the main thing to plan around. If your firm is chasing the 10 certified practitioners it committed to at Registered, or the 10 active certifications Select requires, spreading everyone's exams over more than a year means the first certifications expire before the last are earned. Book the cohort close together.

No. Anthropic's certification FAQ says certification is currently available only to organizations in the Claude Partner Network, and registration requires an email address on a recognised partner company domain.
Can I register with a personal email address?
No. The FAQ states that personal email addresses will not work. You need an address on your employer's domain, and that domain has to be linked to the partner account.
Does it cost anything to join the Claude Partner Network?
No. Anthropic says membership is free of charge. The application asks for a registered business with 10 or more employees, operating in a supported region and offering consulting, implementation or managed services. Not under the current application criteria, which require a registered business with 10 or more employees.
